This event was organized with financial support from the United Nations Sustainable Development Fund (SDG Funds) and technical support from three UN agencies, including FAO, UNDP, and IFAD. The event attracted over 100 delegates and guests from various ministries, sectors, and international organizations (more than 30 different partners) to participate.
At the event, Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Minister of MARD, and Mr. Remi Nono Womdim, FAO Representative in Vietnam, gave opening speeches, highlighting the importance of building and developing a sustainable agriculture system that contributes to the transformation of a transparent, responsible, and sustainable food system.
In recent years, the development of Vietnam's agriculture and rural development sector has received the collaboration, coordination, and support of international partners and organizations. In the new context, facing numerous challenges, Vietnam's agriculture sector needs to take more concrete actions to strengthen cooperation and joint efforts to achieve development goals as well as the international commitments that Vietnam has signed.
Accordingly, at the event, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced the “Scheme to Promote International Cooperation in Agriculture and Rural Development by 2030 with a Vision to 2050”. The scheme outlines specific goals, solutions, and priority tasks that MARD needs to implement and closely coordinate with relevant ministries, sectors, and international partners from now until 2030, with a vision to 2050, contributing to the implementation of sector strategies, plans, and commitments assigned by the Government. The signing ceremony for the Vietnam Food Systems Transformation Partnership groups took place smoothly, demonstrating the interest and commitment of all parties involved.
To promote the implementation of the National Action Plan for Transparent, Responsible, and Sustainable Food System Transformation in Vietnam by 2030 (Decision 300/QD-TTg), Dr. Dang Kim Son (Senior Expert, former Director of the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development) gave a presentation sharing about the plan's tasks and the composition of the technical working groups - divided by fields to connect ministries, international organizations, and resources from ongoing programs and projects in Vietnam to participate in the solutions and objectives of Decision 300/QD-TTg.
Also at the event, the CAP/IPSARD research group shared the results of the draft Monitoring and Evaluation Index for the implementation of Decision 300/QD-TTg. The M&E Index was developed with technical and financial support from the IVAP fund (through SFSI) and FAO to monitor and evaluate the progress and results of the plan's objectives and tasks by 2030 (Posters).
