Within the framework of activities to promote the implementation of the “National Action Plan for Transforming Vietnam’s Food System Towards Transparency, Responsibility, and Sustainability by 2030” under Decision No. 300/QĐ-TTg by the Prime Minister at the provincial level, the Sơn La Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), and the National Institute of Nutrition to organize a meeting. The purpose was to share and discuss the current state of Sơn La Province's food system to identify priority issues, stakeholders, and both existing and future resources needed to address these challenges.

On November 19, 2024, a meeting titled "Consultation on the Current Status of the Food System in Son La Province" was organized by the Son La Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the inter-agency task force (Biodiversity Alliance and CIAT, Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development, National Institute of Nutrition). In a coordinated effort to promote the implementation of the “National Action Plan for a transparent, responsible, and sustainable transformation of the food system in Vietnam by 2030” under Decision No. 300/QD-TTg by the Prime Minister in 2023, an inter-agency working group consisting of the Bioversity and CIAT Alliance, the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development, and the National Institute of Nutrition, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Sơn La, organized a consultation meeting on the current status of the food system in Sơn La Province on November 7, 2024, in Sơn La City.

Within the framework of coordinated activities to promote the implementation of the “National Action Plan for Transforming the Food System in a Transparent, Responsible, and Sustainable Manner in Vietnam by 2030” (NAP-FS) under Decision No. 300/QD-TTg by the Prime Minister on March 28, 2023. in Dong Thap province, the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture (IPSARD) collaborated with the Bioversity Alliance, CIAT, and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap to organize the “Consultation Meeting on the Current Status of the Dong Thap Food System” on October 29, 2024, at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap.

Vietnam has implemented the "National Action Plan on Food Systems Transformation toward Transparency, Responsibility, and Sustainability until 2030". The plan, issued by the Prime Minister at the end of March, aims to turn Vietnam into a transparent, responsible, sustainable food producer and supplier to ensure food security and nutrition for its 100 million people and contribute to world food security.
Vietnam’s food system is complex, encompassing all the people and processes from the farm all the way through processing, transport, sales, and consumption. For those studying food systems, particularly as they pertain to healthy diets and nutrition, grasping an overview can be a significant challenge.
