Facilitators • Set the frame: (if applicable) ask participants to make brief
introductions; introduce the task of the discussion and ensure it is
well understood.
• Facilitate discussion: stimulate and guide conversation;
promote balanced participation and curb dominant voices; remain
neutral and focused to ensure the group members work towards
the outcomes in a timely manner.
• Radical listening: pay attention to both spoken and unspoken
messages, invite those who have not yet opined to speak, ensure
inclusive discussion and maximize participant engagement
Notetakers • Active listening: capture diverse viewpoints and accurately
reflect participants’ inputs, clearly note major points and emerging
perspectives.
• Keep visuals and notes: use (prepared) templates to summarise
and visualize the outcomes; keep records (photos) of all notes
(individual or group discussion).
