- Local officials and stakeholders are requested to review and provide suggestions
for changes, adjustments, or additions to the scoring criteria.
Guiding questions:
o Do you have any feedback on the scoring criteria? If yes, please provide
suggestions and reasons for changes, adjustments, or additions.
- To facilitate the discussion and scoring of pre-identified indicators, local officials
and stakeholders are grouped into four main sectors: Agriculture, Socio-Economic
and Trade, Health and Nutrition, and Resources and Environment. The indicators
are also categorized under these same four sectors (see Annex 9 of the facilitation
guidelines for group discussions and Annex 11 for more examples).
- Local officials/experts should review all indicators to ensure they reflect the relevant
food system elements, and provide suggestions for changes, adjustments, or
additions of new indicators. Reasons for these suggestions must be provided.
Guiding questions:
o Which indicators should be changed or adjusted? Why?
o Which disciplinary indicators describing the current status of the provincial
food system are missing from the pre-selected list?
o Which indicators are not included in the provincial indicator system? Please
propose other indicators. Any other comments?
HIGHLIGHTS FOR USERS
Be mindful in selecting indicators for:
- Food system drivers: Focus on indicators that help the locality develop its
food sector. Indicators showing changing trends that impact other elements
of the food system should be considered for selection.
- Food supply chains: Focus on indicators that highlight the development of
the key food sectors at the sub-national levels.
- Food environments: Focus on indicators that either promote or hinder the
availability and affordability of healthy food choices in local food environments.
- Individual factors and consumer behavior: Focus on indicators that influence
the consumption of healthy or unhealthy food (e.g., household income,
expenditure on food, convenience, etc.).
- Dietary outcomes: Focus on indicators that reflect the consumption of food
groups for a healthy diet or shifts between unhealthy and healthy dietary patterns.
