6.3. Step 3 – Review data sources: List available datasets and reports
Objectives
- List and summarize available datasets and reports, such as Statistical Yearbooks,
the Vietnam Household Living Standard Survey (VHLSS), Nutrition Surveillance
Profile/Report, socio-economic development reports for province/regions, annual
reports of various Provincial Departments, and outcome reports for provincial/
regionial economic strategies. These sources can be utilized to extract relevant
data and information.
Outputs
- A list of reliable sources of information, especially relevant datasets and reports,
including the full name, organizational ownership, contents of the dataset, year of
collection, sector, sub-sector, sources, etc (Table 2).
Common instructions for application
- Organization of datasets and reports should be organized by sector.
- Prioritize publicly available datasets and reports, preferably those that include
time series data to illustrate changes or trends over time.
- At the sub-national level, socio-economic development reports, annual reports
from various departments, and similar documents can serve as reliable sources
of information (see Annex 1 for details on datasets and reports available at the
national and sub-national levels).
- Document all relevant details about the datasets and reports including the full
name, organizational ownership, contents of the dataset, year of collection,
sector, sub-sector, sources, etc.
