3.5. Map actors contributing to addressing selected priority food systems
issues
Step 5 describes the process of mapping actors that play roles in addressing selected
priority food systems issues in the province, as selected in Step 4. This step focuses on
identifying potential actors and deliberating on how they can be engaged.
The key questions used for this step are: (1) Which stakeholders are directly involved
in addressing the selected food systems issues?; and (2) Which stakeholders are
indirectly involved in addressing the selected food systems issues?
• The group discussion lasts between 30-45 minutes.
• The breakout groups (defined in Step 2) can decide to focus on only one selected
food systems issues or all three food system issues. In the former approach,
each group is assigned to map actors for a specific issue. The interdisciplinary
group can deploy the World Café format, where each group engages in a
15-minute discussion. Participants then rotate to other groups to share additional
perspectives and insights.
