 Prepare the agendas, materials and logistics

Before the launch of dialogue events, agendas, materials and logistics should be
prepared in advance. The preparations should include:

             - The agendas and topics of the dialogue events (What topics to be discussed?
                 How it should be done?).

             - The appointment of responsibility for the convening team (curators, facilitators,
                 notetakers).

             - Logistics (sending invitation letters, preparing venue, food, media, etc.).

             • Discussion topics

The sub-national dialogues should consist of structured sessions designed to foster
collaboration, assessment, and planning, ensuring provincial-level alignment with NAP-
FST. The dialogues are ideally conducted in sequence, with recommended intervals
of 1–2 weeks between sessions to allow time for preparation of materials, receiving
feedback, analyzing and reflecting on outcomes, and deepening stakeholder engagement
          (Figure 6).

          - Foundational food system knowledge provision: Specific knowledge provided to
             related stakeholders should be:

o Basic concepts about food systems, food systems transformations through
sustainable healthy diets and agroecological transformations, and NAP-FST.

o Understanding and application of analytical tools such as mapping challenges,
causal loops, trade-off and synergy theory, and multi-stakeholder cooperation.

o Applying a systems approach and analytical tools to address their current food
                 systems challenges in local contexts.

         - Food system profiles: This process aims to collaboratively develop a provincial food
             systems profile by:

o Discussing essential context and key information on global and national-level
                 food systems transformations.

o Introducing and discussing the criteria to evaluate the province’s current food
                 system status and performance indicators.

o Identifying key stakeholders involved in the provincial food system, clarifying
their roles, responsibilities, and relationships within the broader food systems
                 framework.
